Manufacturing is Indiana's most important industry.  Indiana is the top steel-producing state in the U.S. Indiana factories make parts for motor vehicles and airplanes.  They also produce rubber and plastic products, and electronic and electrical equipment.  Chemical production, from paint to prescription drugs, is also important to the state.
