Success Story

Simon Pokagon was chief of the Potawatomi Indians.  In 1844, when he was 14, Simon was sent to Notre Dame Academy.  He learned to speak many languages while he was there.  Many people considered him the most educated Native American of his time.  Simon wrote magazine articles and books, which were printed on the bark of birch trees.
