Battle Ground!

The Battle of Tippecanoe was fought in 1811 near the present-day city of Lafayette.  The Shawnee Indian Chief Tecumseh and his brother, the Shawnee Prophet, led a surprise attack against American troops. The American troops, led by General William Henry Harrison, defeated the Indians.  This was one of the last acts of Indian resistance in the area of Indiana.
