Safety Inspection! Albert Jeremiah Beveridge was a lawyer, historian, and U.S. senator from Indiana.  As a senator, he helped to write a federal meat inspection law.  The law said that all meat had to be handled in clean conditions and had to be inspected before it was sold.  After his career in politics ended, Beveridge began to write biographies of famous Americans, including Abraham Lincoln!
