Great Leader!

Little Turtle was a Miami Indian chief who was respected as a brave and smart leader.  Although Little Turtle led many attacks against settlers, he eventually realized the Indians could not defeat the white men.  He began to try to make peace between the two groups.  In 1795 he signed a treaty (peace agreement) that gave up a lot of Indian land in Ohio to white men.  Little Turtle encouraged Native Americans to become farmers.
